Let me introduce you to another character from Chains of Gwyndorr. She is –without doubt–one of the most interesting and here’s why…

Tessor, wife of Gwyndorr’s Lord Lucian, has been forgotten by the world. She lives in a neglected wing of the large manor house and moves  only in the hidden, dusty passages behind the walls, listening to the whispers of its inhabitants.

Sadness clung to the woman like the frayed fabric of her dress. The one the house has forgotten, Shara thought as the woman dissolved into the shadows.

Although she has been forgotten, Tessor does little else but remember…the past, the pain and her one last promise.

Tessor laid her right cheek against the wall near the peepholes. The icy stone kiss drew her back from the memories, anchored her again to the present. More and more, the past tried to claim her. It called to her through the echoing voices of those long gone.

In the first draft of Chains of Gwyndorr Tessor played a rather minor role, but my editor advised me to develop her and—as I did so—a most remarkable woman began to emerge. Not only was she a fascinating character to create, I’ve come to realise that she also resonates with my readers. Many of them express similar feelings to the writer of the following Amazon review:

“I didn’t expect to grow attached to characters such as Andreo and definitely Tessor. Her story made me cry and I think she became one of my favorite characters, despite being one of my least favorite in the beginning.”

One of the factors that makes Tessor such an interesting, multi-dimensional character is that she shows symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder:

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event (mayoclinic.org).

As Tessor’s past unfolds in Chains of Gwyndorr, readers will start to understand the events that brought on these symptoms and shaped her into the woman she has become.

Tessor, the forgotten one, has a special place in my heart, and I hope Tessor also makes you feel something, be it sorrow, fear, anger, concern or hope. Anything but the indifference her own world has shown her.
